Originally an 1851 Victorian mansion, Candlelight Lodge was established  as a Western New York Country Inn in the 1920's and a Chautauqua County Bed and Breakfast in 1986. Candlelight Lodge with our purchase became a B&B long before B&Bs were fashionable. Candlelight Lodge is located on two landscaped acres in the heart of the village of Westfield New York, the only B&B within the village. Guests of our Chautauqua B&B can walk to the Farmer's Market in the Village Park and enjoy many unique shops along the way. Within one block are convenience stores, banks, a full service grocery store, fast food, medical center, post office and pharmacy for additional needs. Within two short blocks is also Westfield Memorial Hospital. Many wonderful choices for dining can be found within a few blocks to a few miles.  Candlelight Lodge Bed and Breakfast is one mile from Lake Erie, Interstate 90 (Exit 60) and five miles from Lake Chautauqua and Mayville New York. Candlelight Lodge is also fifteen minutes from  Chautauqua Institution.

Westfield NY is known for its historic architecture, antique shops, historic homes, wonderful restaurants and wineries. Five major wineries with wine tasting are within four miles of our Western New York Bed and Breakfast. Candlelight Lodge is located in the absolute center of the Chautauqua Lake Erie Wine Trail ( 40mi. ) - all 25 wineries are within 20 miles of Candlelight Lodge.  Slightly more than one mile west on Route 20 from Candlelight Lodge is the New York State  Grape Discovery Center, with the history of the largest and oldest concord grape growing area in the world. The Discovery Center also offers events with tastings and gifts. One mile west of Candlelight Lodge on Route 20 is also our Landmark Acres Antiques, a fine quality antique shop since 1946 "with special pieces for special places".

Candlelight Lodge was purchased in 1986 and converted to a B&B with seven spacious suites, formally efficiency apartments and one bedroom. All of our suites are larger than other B&B rooms. Candlelight Lodge has elegant antique furnishings all with private baths,  queen beds, elegant antique furnishings, desks, DirecTV with premium channels, Wireless, AC, mini-refrigerator, coffee machine, and microwave.  Four of our larger B&B suites are appropriate longer term vacation rentals for 3 nights at a reduced rate or by the week at a further reduced price with no NYS sales tax (8%). These suites are small efficiencies with mini kitchens, sitting areas and private baths, also ideal for the business traveler. Three of our suites have gas log fireplaces. Cozy comforters, Victorian wallpaper and lacy drapes all add to the warmth and charm of each room.

We offer breakfast in the area at three different locations, the first of which is the Main Diner, 2 short blocks from our Inn, an original 50's diner. You may also enjoy breakfast on Lake Erie (1 mi.) at Jack's in Barcelona with the oldest gas Light House on the Great Lakes. Take a walk on the Daniel Reed Pier. Breakfast is also available at the J&B Mayville Diner in Mayville on Chautauqua Lake (5 mi.) near Chautauqua Institute. Each of these three locations specialize in breakfast with complete menus and if you are not a breakfast fan our restaurant certificate ($18 per couple) can also be used for lunch. Choose a different scenic location for breakfast each morning, enjoy what you prefer and when you would like to have breakfast. This allows you an opportunity to explore more of Chautauqua County, its businesses, shops and meet its friendly people. For more information see  Policies.

Our Country Inn can accommodate an extra guest in three of our seven suites. The Renaissance or Oak Suites allow for a special price with the adjoining Lincoln bedroom (one person) which also has a second bath. Rebecca's Suite offers an additional bedroom within the suite for an additional person.  For information or reservations please call after 9AM EST and before 9PM EST or use the Reservation and Availability link.

We furnish our suites with fine antiques from our nearby antique shop on the west side of Westfield, Route 20. Landmark Acres Antiques  is located on the oldest property in Chautauqua County (1802). Chautauqua County has celebrated its Centennial (1902) and its Bicentennial (2002) on the front lawn of Landmark Acres. Landmark Acres Antiques is located in a large barn, the oldest building in Chautauqua County and has been a fine quality antique shop since 1946.

Next to Candlelight Lodge B&B is also the Captain Storm House, a special Vacation Rental with four additional spacious bedroom suites. Two to four couples can enjoy the privacy of a whole house for two or more nights. There is a special discount for a third night or by the week. Both Candlelight Lodge and the Captain Storm House have a special listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
