Candlelight Lodge bed and breakfast is an 1851 brick Victorian mansion located on two landscaped acres in the heart of the village Westfield, the only B&B in the village - walk to the Village Park, antique shops, restaurants, stores, and gift shops. Within one block of our Country Inn are convenience stores, a full service grocery store, several banks, a medical center, post office and pharmacy for additional needs. Candlelight Lodge B&B, along the Chautauqua-Lake Erie Wine Trail (40 mi.), has all 24 wineries within 20 miles in Lake Erie Wine Country. There are 6 wineries within 4mi. of our Country Inn. Candlelight Lodge, a Chautauqua County B&B, is within one mile of Lake Erie and 5 miles of Chautauqua Lake, 15 minutes from Chautauqua Institution and 25 minutes from Lily Dale on Cassadaga Lake, the largest summer gathering of mediums and spiritualists in the country. Bring your bicycles and enjoy our Victorian town. Candlelight Lodge, along with our Captain Storm House next door also have a special listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
Our Country Inn offers seven spacious suites not rooms (450 sq. ft. average), ideal for a single night or longer term vacation getaway. Candlelight Lodge suites have elegant antique furnishings with tables, desks, queen beds, private baths, climate control, DirecTV, wireless, mini refrigerators, coffee machines and microwaves. Cozy comforters, Victorian wall paper and lacy drapes all add to the warmth and charm of each room.
We offer breakfast at two unique locations in Westfield within two short blocks of our Inn, easy walking or you may enjoy breakfast on either Lake Erie (1 mi.) in Barcelona Harbor, Pier and Lighthouse or on Chautauqua Lake (5 mi.). Each of these four locations specialize in breakfast and if not a breakfast fan our restaurant certificate can also be used for lunch. Enjoy breakfast when, where and what you prefer. Candlelight Lodge B&B has a large guest parlor(18x16), formal dining room, reception room (25 sq. ft.), sun room, formal covered patio, large open patio, two private porches and several picnic tables for your summer enjoyment. The Lodge has 12' ceilings upstairs and down, spiral walnut staircases, interior columns, inlaid floors, magnificent arched windows, ornate woodwork, cast iron appointments and seven fireplaces. 10' high windows look out on the wonderful surrounding two acre grounds. We use no wide angle photography. On certain late Friday afternoons in the summer we offer hors d'oeuvres with wine from local wineries to our arriving guests at the inn.
With the moving of the Captain Storm House next door to Candlelight Lodge in 2000 we now have four additional large suites having Kohler garden tub and showers and exquisite furnishings. The Captain Storm House has a 75 foot wrap around porch, a large fully furnished Country kitchen and wonderful woodwork. As a Chautauqua bed and breakfast for the night, a romantic getaway, or longer term vacation rental, the Captain Storm House makes a wonderful addition to Candlelight Lodge. For anniversaries or other small gatherings the two B&Bs, Candlelight Lodge and Captain Storm House, together or separately are ideal.
Ed and Wilma Benjamin, owners of Candlelight Lodge since it first became a Lake Chautauqua New York B&B (1986) also own Landmark Acres Antiques, one of the largest and oldest (1946) quality antique shops in this part of the nation. Landmark Acres Antiques, 232 W. Main Rt.20, is located in a large barn (5000 sq. ft.), the oldest building on the oldest settled property in Chautauqua County (1802) and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

We encourage you to participate in the Chautauqua County experience, whether it's a dinner cruise on Lake Chautauqua, a balloon ride over Chautauqua Lake New York, a fishing charter, boating or diving on a Lake Erie shipwreck we can help you. We are 5 miles from Chautauqua Lake and 15 minutes from Chautauqua Institution. One mile from our Westfield B&B is Barcelona Harbor, Pier and early Lighthouse on Lake Erie. Barcelona is Westfield's best kept secret, picturesque New England charm which many painters have tried to capture. Westfield Fisheries has smoked whitefish, salmon, shrimp and fresh perch, pike, trout, etc. There is skiing at nearby Cockaigne or Peek'n Peak, 30 minutes away in the winter. There are local bike trails, hiking along Chautauqua Gorge and several scenic golf courses for your enjoyment in the summer months.
For the less adventuresome there are several local antique shops and six wineries with wine tasting all within four miles of our Lodge along the Chautauqua Lake Erie Wine Trail (40 miles). Candlelight Lodge is located in the absolute center of Lake Erie Wine Country - all 24 wineries are within 20 miles of our Candlelight Lodge. Candlelight Lodge is also one mile from the new New York State Wine Museum, " Grape Discovery Center." Several New York fine dining restaurants are also within a few miles.
Westfield has many special weekend events throughout the year such as the Westfield Arts and Crafts Festival and the Westfield Antique Show in July and the new Art Trail Open Studio Tours in May. The wineries' have 7 major Wine Weekends during the year, for example, the Wine and Chocolate and Wine and Cheese weekends, 3 events are free. There is Cross Roads (4 mi.), a farm and craft market on weekends with nearby Amish farms and craft shops, also experience the Farmer's Market in the Village Park on Saturday mornings in the summer only two short blocks from Candlelight Lodge.
Enjoy birding - please remember this area is a migration corridor for raptors. Within a couple of blocks of the Inn are also several antique shops, gift shops and restaurants and within a few more miles there are also art galleries and pottery shops to explore.
Westfield Memorial Hospital is one block away and the Westfield Physician's Center is just across the street from our Country Inn. The McClurg Chautauqua County Museum and the Patterson Library are two short blocks away. They have self guided walking tours of Westfield's historic architecture.
Nearby, Fredonia, NY (16 mi.), has SUNY at Fredonia and the Fredonia Opera House. Lily Dale is located a few miles south of Fredonia, Lily Dale on Cassadaga Lake has in the summer the largest group of mediums and spiritualists in the country, gaining national prominence on HBO over the last 2 years. Lily Dale offers a summer program of lectures, workshops and other activities featuring best-selling authors, leaders, teachers and healers. In nearby Jamestown, NY (25 mi.), there is also the Lucy-Desi Museum and the Roger Tory Peterson Institute and Audubon Nature Center and Sanctuary.
